DIE-CUT Manufacturing - The difference from Etching

Conventional EAS labels have been manufactured by etching method. In etching, the solder mask is printed onto an aluminum substrate in circuit form, and the excess is removed chemically. In contrast, in our DIE-CUT manufacturing, the aluminum substrate is directly cut by metal-dies shaped into circuits. Using the DIE-CUT method, we have been able to solve the following problems of the Etching method:

Problem 1 -The impact onto the Environment

Since etching requires the use of chemicals to manufacture, it creates industrial waste. In addition, certain vinyl sheet inside the some etching labels may release toxic dioxins when they are burned at waste treatment facilities at inadequate temperature. In our DIE-CUT manufacturing process, absolutely no chemicals are used, and the aluminum that has been cut-out during the manufacturing is completely recycled.
Due to these properties, MIYAKE has received accreditation as an ISO14000 compliant company, and has been selected by SONY Corporation as a Green Partner.
A Green Partner is SONYfs unique recognition program for its suppliers that are environmentally friendly.

Problem 2 - The Effect of Water

The circuits manufactured by etching are prone to failure liquids. Just by being covered the surface of a tag with a body, or applying to high-moisture item would make the tag ineffective. Thieves are increasingly aware of this shortcoming, resulting in a rise of shrinkage. In addition, the sensitivity of etched tags decreases with frost and condensation.
DIE-CUT manufactured tags are barely affected by liquids, and will trigger alarms even if body or frost cover the label.
In addition, our F400, DIE-CUT grocery labels, can be used on meat packages, frozen foods, wine bottles, spirits, beverage bottles, and plants, among others that should be in circumstance that to contact to water directly.

Problem 3 - Reactivation after deactivation

EAS labelfs reactivation after deactivation is a serious problem.
gReactivationh means unwanted restoration of labelfs function after deactivation.
It occurs naturally without visible sign, even just after successful deactivation.
Reactivated label leads confusion for both customers and retailers because they do not know EAS label is possible to be reactivated.
Customers feel they are falsely accused due to storefs mistake and retailers cannot be sure if they can trust EAS system or not.
Source tagging labelfs reaction@also causes confusion because labels are often hidden inside package.
According to our survey, patented die-cut label tends to have lower reaction rate after deactivation compared with etching labels.

Quality Control

We installed six cutting-edge high-speed automatic label inspection machines that check each labelfs frequency and Q factor.
We inspect every one of label and will not ship out a roll that has over 3% defective labels. (Currently, average defect rate is 1.25%)
A red dot marking indicates the label is defected and we add additional labels to each roll to make up any difference.

Customized Properties

In addition to waterproof labels, products that were developed based on customer requests are our book label with repeelable adhesive and custom frequency labels. We look forward to working with you for your customization needs.@
