Conventional tags have strong adhesives that, if affixed to a book, may cause tearing of the paper when the customer tries to remove it. There is no benefit for a customer who has purchased a book, to having the anti-theft label on it. However, for the book retailer, sometimes there is little else it can do to prevent shrinkage. We, MIYAKE, have a solution for this, a BOOK TAG WITH A WEAK ADHESIVE that can be peeled off without damage. With this, the customer can peel off the tag after it has been purchased. In addition, the label is as thin as paper, so it can be attached between pages, and will not contribute to bulk, or damage the book.
At the cash register, the tags can be deactivated upon purchase, thereby allowing the customer to remove the tag, or it can be removed without deactivation by the retailer, and reused.
